We wanted the opportunity to send out some upcoming changes that you will be

seeing in The Big Blue. Many of you know The Big Blue is undergoing a leadership change in August. The transition date is set for August 29th ad will be happening during both services during Sunday morning church.
What is changing exactly?

  • The O’Hara family will be passing down a great ministry to the Ambrose Family
  • The Big Blue will have a name change and will be revealed August 29th
  • Sunday morning children’s church will be moving to another modular next door to our current location.
  • Seaside children will be starting a new curriculum Sunday mornings.

We are having a celebration August 22nd which is an outdoor relay/fun day for our
kids to help make this a smooth transition.
If you have any questions about the direction our children’s ministry is heading, feel free to contact Tori Ambrose.
We are so excited to be able to serve and love you through all of this.

Were you at the Spring Baptism? There were 10 members of our church that committed their lives to Jesus Christ. It was an awesome afternoon of fellowship, worship, BBQ, friends and family.

I was getting ready to face the day and took a moment to pick up Our Daily Bread… and this is what I found. Considering that I got an email and phone call from my sister this morning, asking for some help getting the word about about a new ministry, help with looking for some volunteers to greet people, set up food, watch children, lead in worship…I thought it was very appropriate.

The Boat

A group of teenagers on a ministry trip in Jamaica were enjoying some downtime with a game of Ultimate Frisbee. But when someone noticed that a boat had overturned off a nearby beach, the game ended and the teens eagerly rushed to the water to help.

There they found a small group of professional boat operators struggling with their craft—trying to turn it upright. That’s where the teens could help. They waded in, put their young strength to work, and together they were able to right the boat.

What happened that day in the Caribbean Sea reminds me of what can happen in the church. The “professionals,” the pastor and others who are trained to lead the church, face a task they can’t do alone. It’s often a struggle to get the work of the church done until laypeople join in and work alongside the leadership.

This was the situation in Acts 6. Some people in the church were being neglected, and the “professionals,” the apostles who were leading the church, realized they couldn’t do everything by themselves. Only when seven laypeople pitched in to help the leaders could the church proceed.

How can you come alongside your pastor and other leaders to help keep your church moving ahead?

O Lord, help me in every way
To have a faithful heart;
Teach me to love and serve Your church,
And always do my part. —Fitzhugh

As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. —1 Peter 4:10

Paul’s Prayer for Spiritual Growth

14 When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father,[a] 15 the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.[b] 16I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. 17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

The May edition of the Newsletter went out this weekend. Did you get your copy? Make sure you are on the list. Here is a little preview…a note from the Director of Women’s Ministry, Karen Nelson:

Greetings, Beloveds!  Happy Mothers’ Day!

I am a grateful woman, happy to be home again, with my Beautiful Momma by my side.  This is a photograph taken of me and Mom at Seaside ARTFest 2010.  The paintings are Patti Kilian’s, and my Mom is the Miracle.  Joan Muir, also known as Wonder Woman.

The last six months in North Carolina have been horrible and wonderful, and an incredibly rich time of trusting God when most things seemed to point to disaster.  I am amazed at the tender faithfulness with which we are lead through life, and the clear direction that we find when we press our ears to the lips of our Creator.

This Mothers’ Day, if you find yourself trying to remember what it was like being in-utero (yes, I think of such things), lock yourself in a small room with your Mom and stay there for a couple months.  Most of us wouldn’t choose this, whether we’re the daughter or the mother, yet this is where God truly knitted our hearts together as one.

We prayed together, ate together and slept together; Mom got the cool bed and I was stuck in the recliner.  Each day, God hand-picked the doctors and nurses, nurse aides and technicians, physical therapists and environmental service workers, and lead them into Mom’s room to help her, pray for her, encourage her and, well change both our lives.  So, Joan Muir is here to stay, along with her adorable little dog, Poncho – to thrive in the life she is blessed with and to spark things up with us women.  Women, get ready!

She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. Proverbs 31:25

And you, sweet beautiful sisters, sent cards and letters and held us up in prayer everyday.  Thank you for letting me call at all hours for prayer and to cry, cry, cry.  Thank you for banding together to care for one another and walking your walk wa-a-a-ay Beyond Sunday Morning.  And a special shout out to the fabulous Pat Turner for representing Seaside Women so beautifully at the Women’s Table.

“There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!” Proverbs 31:29
