The May edition of the Newsletter went out this weekend. Did you get your copy? Make sure you are on the list. Here is a little preview…a note from the Director of Women’s Ministry, Karen Nelson:

Greetings, Beloveds!  Happy Mothers’ Day!

I am a grateful woman, happy to be home again, with my Beautiful Momma by my side.  This is a photograph taken of me and Mom at Seaside ARTFest 2010.  The paintings are Patti Kilian’s, and my Mom is the Miracle.  Joan Muir, also known as Wonder Woman.

The last six months in North Carolina have been horrible and wonderful, and an incredibly rich time of trusting God when most things seemed to point to disaster.  I am amazed at the tender faithfulness with which we are lead through life, and the clear direction that we find when we press our ears to the lips of our Creator.

This Mothers’ Day, if you find yourself trying to remember what it was like being in-utero (yes, I think of such things), lock yourself in a small room with your Mom and stay there for a couple months.  Most of us wouldn’t choose this, whether we’re the daughter or the mother, yet this is where God truly knitted our hearts together as one.

We prayed together, ate together and slept together; Mom got the cool bed and I was stuck in the recliner.  Each day, God hand-picked the doctors and nurses, nurse aides and technicians, physical therapists and environmental service workers, and lead them into Mom’s room to help her, pray for her, encourage her and, well change both our lives.  So, Joan Muir is here to stay, along with her adorable little dog, Poncho – to thrive in the life she is blessed with and to spark things up with us women.  Women, get ready!

She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. Proverbs 31:25

And you, sweet beautiful sisters, sent cards and letters and held us up in prayer everyday.  Thank you for letting me call at all hours for prayer and to cry, cry, cry.  Thank you for banding together to care for one another and walking your walk wa-a-a-ay Beyond Sunday Morning.  And a special shout out to the fabulous Pat Turner for representing Seaside Women so beautifully at the Women’s Table.

“There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!” Proverbs 31:29
